New principal named at Walnut Cove Elementary

Stokes County School Board announced on Monday Chris Bottoms will be the new principal at Walnut Cove Elementary.

Bottoms began his teaching career in the spring of 2005 as a substitute / interim teacher at West Stokes High before transitioning to Chestnut Grove Middle where he taught seventh and eighth grade science and social studies. He went on to serve as assistant principal at Chestnut Grove in 2015 and at King Elementary in the 2016-17 school year.

Bottoms is an Appalachian State University alumni and has earned his Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, Master of School Administration and Specialist in Education Degrees.

Stokes County Superintendent Dr. Brad Rice said he’s excited about the future of Walnut Cove Elementary.

Bottoms will be transitioning into the position this week.
