Local criminal defense lawyer arrested on drug charges

Stokes County Special Investigations Division concluded a two month operation and served a search warrant at 661 W. Dalton Road in King shortly after 1 a.m. on Thursday, April 5. James Brandon Farmer and Hayley Christine Sherman, a local criminal defense lawyer, was arrested after a quantity of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, such as digital scales and packaging material was located, according to a press release from the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office. Xanax was also found in the residence.

Farmer, 33-years-old, of 661 W. Dalton Road, was charged with two counts felony possession with intent to sell, deliver, two counts felony to sell marijuana, two counts felony deliver marijuana, two counts felony conspiracy to sell and deliver marijuana, two counts felony maintaining a dwelling, felony possession with intent to sell, deliver Xanax, three counts possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Farmer was charged with two counts of child abuse when the two suspects were arrested and a minor child was also living at the residence. He is under a $20,000 secured bond.

Sherman, 29-years-old, of 661 W. Dalton Road, was charged with two counts of felony possession with intent to sell, deliver, two counts felony to sell marijuana, two counts felony deliver marijuana, two counts felony conspiracy sell and deliver marijuana, two counts felony maintaining a dwelling, one count felony possession with intent to sell, deliver Xanax, three counts possession of marijuana paraphernalia. She is under a $10,000 secured bond.

The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office and SBI for assisted in the case.
