A flurry of last minute filings by incumbent candidates has filled out the ballot for the November municipal elections.
In King, incumbent council members Charles Allen and Wesley Carter will face challengers Ashley Thomas Turner and Steven Hewett in the race for two council seats. All seats in King are elected for a four year term.
In Danbury, voters will see some familiar names on the ballot as incumbent Janet Whitt is running unopposed for mayor and incumbent council members Wendi Spraker and David Hoskins are running unopposed for two council seats.
Incumbents Sharon Conaway and Elwood Mabe will run unopposed for two Walnut Cove Board of Commissioners seats and Charles Byron is running unopposed for mayor.
“Each of the contests on the ballot will have a write-in space with one space for each mayoral race, and two spaces for each council/commissioner race,” said Jason Perry, Director Stokes County Board of Elections. “If at this point an individual decides to become a write-in candidate and begins actively campaigning for a particular seat, he or she would need to file some paperwork with our office and follow the same procedures as a candidate whose name is on the ballot.”
