North, South and West Stokes had 91 area athletes named to either the Northwest 1A All-Conference team or the Western Piedmont Athletic 2A All-Conference squad this past winter. West Stokes Bethany Memola (swim) and Paden Lungrin (wrestling) were awarded player of the year awards, while the Wildcats Pat Erikson and the South Stokes Jason Clark were slated as coaches of the year.
Wrestling was the most successful sport in Stokes County this past winter with two individual state champions in South Stokes Jackson Boles and Steven Fatz. Paden Lungrin (North Stokes) was awarded Northwest 1A wrestler of the year.
All-conference wrestlers from South Stokes included Cody Lawson, Rickey Gonzales, Boles, Fatz, Cooper Ross, and Kaleb Mitchell. North Stokes all-conference athletes were Lungrin, Levi Collins, Dylan Mabe, and Clayton Utt. West Stokes was represented by state qualifier Carson Goins, Evan Wall, Garrett Lowe, and Noah Hall. Honorable mentions include Lucas Utt and Mitchell Petree from North Stokes, Jordan Mitchell and Justin Flinchum from South Stokes, and Zach Watts and Isaac Church from West Stokes.
In swimming, all-conference athletes were Cameron Health, Bailey Moran, Joseph Ashby, and Timothy White from West Stokes. William Erikson was named honorable mention. For the ladies West Stokes Memola, Anna McGhee, Hannah Miller, and Abby Bryant were all-conference with Dunivant Grabbs, Hannah Speer, Sarah Rice, Rayan Bartle, Ashley Hauser, Sally Thompson, Allison Mabe, and Ramsey Miller were named honorable mention.
Basketball was well represented. The Sauras had Ben Bowen, Brady Dudley, and PJ Samuels on the Northwest team, while Isaac Spainhour, Noah Spainhour, and Elan Muniz made the WPAC 2A squad. Honorable mentions included Wesley Misenheimer and Tyliq Hairston from South and Layton Helms and Josh McQuinn from North Stokes. For the girls, North Stokes had Karley Jessup and Sarah McBride, while South had Ashley James on the 1A team and West had Eugenia Marcelli and freshman Hannah Spainhour from the WPAC. Honorable mentions were Natalie Dodson and Leann Sessoms for the Vikings, Tatyana Childress and Madaline Shore for the Sauras, and Emma Santoro for the Wildcats.
In indoor track, North Stokes had Abigail Hemric, Brandy Bolens, Rachel Overby, Josie Stanberry, and Hailey Sheppard, Jackson Health, Jacob McGee, and Michael Overstreet make all-conference. For South Stokes, Jadyn Hicks, Shawn Campbell, Austin Harger, Caleb Richardson, Bryson Autry and Brett Washburn. West Stokes all-conference athletes included Adam Mayes, Foster Murray, Hunter Cockerham, Dustin Blevins, William Hicks, Erin Duke, Jacob Adkins, Hunter Jackson, Walter Justice and Nick Palmer.
