In the midst of one of the most successful runs in North Stokes baseball history, the team is holding a fundraiser golf tournament in September to help raise money to better their program.

“We no longer have a booster club here at North Stokes and it’s up to us to raise the money we need to help us in the long run,” said assistant baseball and JV head coach Chris York. “Last season we advanced to the fourth round of state playoffs for the first time and won the most games in school history and our incoming seniors have the opportunity to be the most winning class in North baseball history. But, as we travel around and see other schools, we realize that our facilities are just not where they need to be to continue to compete at a high level.”

The Vikings plan to make improvements on and around the field with batting netting for the cage and stations, a warning track around the outfield, a batter’s eye behind the pitcher and a new scoreboard.

“Our playing surface is top notch, thanks to coach Jenkins,” commented York. “But, the rest of our facilities need improvements.”

The Captain’s Choice tournament will be at Pine Knolls Golf Course in Kernersville, N.C on Sept. 16 with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. and an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Teams are threesomes or foursomes and registration is $55 per golfer. The fee includes golf, range balls, and lunch provided by Chick Fil A, Pepsi, Subway and Krispy Kreme.

Prizes for first, second and third place will be awarded for closest to the pin and longest drive with also an opportunity to win a new car from Modern Chevrolet with a hole-in-one on number 11. Raffle prizes range from $20 to $400 and one of the raffle prizes is a two-night stay at the Double Tree Hilton in Asheville with four daytime passes to the Biltmore Estate. First place teams in the golf tournament will win $100 each per team member.
