Hemlock Golf Club sponsored its first annual Foothill Shootout on Saturday and handed out an array of prizes. More than 90 players on 18 different teams made up the bunny hop tournament.
“It was great and the day went off without a hitch,” said pro-golfer Dalton Boles, who works at Hemlock. “It’s the biggest tournament Hemlock has seen in a while. We had some great feedback and everyone seemed to be happy. Will Smith and Derek Ward worked really hard to put on such a solid tournament.”
Chris Shipoff hit his first hole-in-one at Saturday’s tournament and won $550 during the closest to pin competition. He also led his team to a third place finish.
The day’s first place team included recent South Stokes graduate Tanner Bibey along with Terry Mills, Richard Meadows, Ryan Barcey and Robby Stevens with a 20 under par. The second place team included Mark Kriston, Zach Arms, Jay Charles, Jordan Ramsey and Jeff Dodson with 19 under par. Third place was made up of Shipoff, Kris Kiser, Jerry Rodgers, Gil Priddy and Jake Jarvis with a team effort of 17 under par.
The closest to pin competition went to Jason Craver, who won on hole number four, Roger Joyce on hole eight, Mark Christian on hole 15 and Shipoff with his hole-in-one on number 12. Jared Jones was recognized as having the longest drive of the day.
Boles thanked Bojangles for sponsoring the morning breakfast and Little Italy of King for sponsoring lunch.
