We welcome October! It’s time for cooler temperatures, changing leaves and everything pumpkin spice. I went to Walmart Saturday and believe it or not, they were putting out Christmas decorations…in September. I think maybe that’s rushing things a bit.

The Annual Francisco School Reunion will be held Saturday, October 6, at the Francisco Community Building. The doors will open at 11:30 am and lunch is served at 12:30. Anyone that was ever a student at Francisco is invited to attend. This is such a great opportunity to meet up with some of your old classmates that you haven’t seen in a while. Bring your favorite covered dish and enjoy the food and fellowship.

Sharon McGeeney, On the Move Personal Training Instructor, made September her community project month. Through the whole month, she held a silent auction for her delicious homemade pound cakes and she also asked her clients to help with donations for the Northern Stokes Food Pantry. On Monday, October 1, she handed Greg Collins, one of the volunteers for the food pantry, donations totaling $1,167 and a box of food for the Food Pantry. Thanks to all who have contributed to this very worthy cause. Most of us do not know what it’s like to go without food. The Northern Stokes Food Pantry helps the ones who have fallen on hard times. Sharon’s campaign to help the food pantry will be greatly appreciated by the ones that really need it. The holidays are fast approaching and any extra canned food donations or monetary donations will be needed. Why not make October your community project month?

The Francisco Presbyterian Church will be having their Homecoming Service Sunday, October 14. Church service will begin at 11:00 am and lunch will be served at noon. All are invited to attend.

The Francisco Ladies Auxiliary will have Fall Frolic Bingo Saturday, October 20, at the Francisco Community Building. Hot dogs will be ready at 6:00 pm and the games start at 7:00 pm. The cost is $20 for 20 games. All prizes are fall related. Come out and enjoy the fun.
