Upcoming events:

Sandy Ridge Community Center Committee Meeting – Tuesday, September 18 at 7 pm. All committee members are urged to attend.

Hilltop Baptist Church – Ladies Meeting, Friday, September 21 at 6:30 pm in the church fellowship building. Meal will follow devotions and prayer requests.

Riverside Baptist Church – Fall Fish Fry, Saturday, September 29 from 1 – 6 pm at The American Legion. Plates are $8 and includes catfish, hushpuppies, slaw and drink.

Hilltop Baptist Church – Homecoming, Sunday, September 30 beginning at 10:30 am. Rev. Don Ball will be guest speaker. Dinner will follow after service in the church fellowship building.

Sandy Ridge Community Center Clean-Up Day – Saturday, October 6 has been postponed. TBA at a later date.

The 12th Annual “Ridge Fest” is a free day for the community sponsored by local businesses and hosted by the Sandy Ridge Ruritans at the NE Stokes Fire Department on Saturday, October 13, from 10 am to 3 pm. The Sandy Ridge Ruritans are seeking vendors, crafters and anyone with yard sale items, antique dealers, etc. No applications or fees; you must provide your own table and chairs. You may set up beginning at 8:30 am and tables must be taken down by 4 pm.

Sandy Ridge Music Association – Saturday, October 13 at 6 pm. Southern Gentlemen and By Grace will be performing.

American Red Cross Blood Drive – Saturday, November 10 at Sandy Ridge Community Center

Sandy Ridge Music Association – Saturday, November 10 at S & S Greenhouse (details to follow at a later date). Mayo River Alliance and Never Too Late will be performing.

Sandy Ridge Community Building Annual Fundraiser is underway. Please see any committee member if you wish to purchase a ticket. A donation of $5 per ticket or 5 for $20 is greatly appreciated. Drawing for a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner and Carpet Cleaner including all attachments (valued at over $1,000) will be at the Ridge Fest on October 13. You may purchase in advance or at the Ridge Fest. All proceeds will be used for upkeep and maintenance of the building, and you do not need to be present to win.

TRIED AND TASTED RECIPE

Buttery French Bread Croutons

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine 5 cups 1” cubed French bread (about 5 oz.), 3 tbsp. melted salted butter, and ½ tsp kosher salt.

Bake in preheated oven until golden, about 15 minutes.

Let cool completely.
