So…have you ever wondered why God created kudzu? It’s annoying, it’s irritating and everyone in Stokes County knows it’s plentiful. Now, kudzu finally has a purpose. Local Stokes County artist, Pamela Buchanan, uses this unending vine to produce beautifully hand crafted, one of a kind baskets. She is scheduled to teach her specialized craft of kudzu basket making Saturday, August 18, at the Francisco Community Building. The class will begin at 9:00 am and should last about 3 hours. The cost is $45.00 which includes materials. If you’re interested in attending this class, please call Texie Jessup at 336-351-4142 or Kathy Blue at 336-351-3254. Also, check out Pamela Buchanan’s Facebook page called VineWorks. There, she showcases some of her creations using not only kudzu but other types of vines as well. She really has some impressive works!
