This is such a great time of the year. It’s the beginning of summer and you may have a vacation on your mind. When I was growing up, vacation was maybe a day trip to the mountains, if we were lucky. All of our time was spent in the tobacco field or garden. Being bored was not part of my childhood development. Daddy could always find us something to do. I hated it then, but now I realize that the hard work I learned as a child made me the person that I am today, one that really appreciates a vacation, a real one.

A young bear was spotted on Highway 89 about half mile from the Francisco Fire Department on Monday. Please be careful if you are out and about in the area.

Please remember the following people in your prayers, Betty Stevens and Jennifer Overby.
