I called Randy Cook to get an update on True Light Baptist Church which is located on Hwy 704 beside Sandy Ridge Community Center. He said, “Things are moving right along. Within a week, all sheetrock should be hung and ready for sanding and painting. After that, we will start on the drop ceiling and hanging the inside doors. A start-up service is planned for the near future.” I will keep everybody posted when I receive new information.

East Stokes Outreach Ministry in Walnut Cove is in need of size 4 and 5 diapers and wipes. They have posted the following: If your church, or civic group, is looking for something to do, our pantry needs some extra love/help after hours. We have food to sort and stock, and shelves that need to be rearranged for expiration. For more information, call 336-591-3237.

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Ernestine “Teeny” Joyce Amos who passed away on Friday, June 1 at the age of 86.

Did you know, in the USA, Father’s Day has been celebrated in June since 1910? But it wasn’t until 1966 that President Lyndon B. Johnson proclaimed the third Sunday in June as Father’s Day. In 1972, President Richard Nixon signed it into law. This year, Father’s Day will be celebrated on June 17. So, on this day, honor the one you call Dad. As Anne Geddes said, “Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a Dad.”
