Hope everyone had a great three day weekend. But I also hope you didn’t forget exactly what Memorial Day stands for and what it really means. The saying, “all gave some but some gave all” really gets to the point. The men and women that fought and died for our freedoms that we enjoy every day should have a significant place in our hearts.

Don’t forget the Big Country Breakfast going on at the Francisco Community Building, Saturday, June 2, from 7:00-10:00 am. Don’t drive to Pilot Mountain, Mount Airy or Stuart for breakfast. Come to Francisco! Enjoy breakfast like Mama used to make; gravy, biscuits, pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, grits, the works! All the local organizations are coming together to “raise the roof” literally. All donations will go to the community building fund for a much needed new roof. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy breakfast and help our community “raise the roof.”

The Our Communities Group will have Summertime Bingo Saturday, June 16, at the Francisco Community Building. Hot dogs will be ready at 6:00 pm and the games start at 7:00 pm. The cost is $20 for 20 games. All prizes are summer related, (these should be really good!) All proceeds go to the upkeep of the community building. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the evening.

We are in the process of planning a basket making class to be held Saturday, July 7, at the Francisco Community Building. Please be aware that it will take most of the day to complete. The cost is $25 per person and this includes materials and lunch. If interested, please send a check or money order to: OC of NW Stokes Foundation, 7104 NC Hwy 89W Westfield, NC 27053. We will only take the first 8-10 people for this class. If more are interested, we will have another one. We are also discussing the possibility of having a kudzu basket class in August.
