There will be a free health fair on Saturday, April 28, from 9 to 12 noon at Lawsonville Fire Dept. hosted by Capella Church of Christ. Listed are some of the stations to be set up there:

Medication Drop Off, Stokes County Sheriff’s office with KidID, Stokes Partnership for Children, Life Brite Hospital (possibly to check cholesterol and blood sugar), Hanging Rock State Park, Stokes County DSS, YVEDDI, United Fund of Stokes, Monarch/Stokes Opportunity Center, Stokes County Community Block Grant, NC Cooperative Extension, Senior Services, Insight Human Services, Danbury Public Library, Hospice & Palliative Care

Riverside Baptist Church will have a special singing on Sunday, April 29 at 6 pm with Jerry Lankford performing.

The UMW Nightingales of Delta UMC will have a Yard, Bake and Hot Dog Sale on Saturday, May 5, beginning at 7 am. Come and join them for their homecoming on Sunday, May 20, following Sunday morning worship service.

Please support Relay for Life of Stokes County which will be held Friday, May 11, from 6 pm to midnight at South Stokes High School. Contact Donna Mitchell at 871-2321 for further information about the relay or if you are interested in dedicating a luminaria.

Capella Church of Christ will host a pancake breakfast, free to the public, on Saturday, May 19, from 8 to 10 am. This is will be held at Sandy Ridge Community Center at 5061 NC Hwy 704 E.

Mark your calendars and plan to attend the benefit for Dillon Priddy, the son of Darrell and Lori Priddy. Dillon, who is a kindergarten student at Sandy Ridge Elementary, was recently diagnosed with leukemia. The spaghetti supper will be Saturday, May 26, from 4 to 7 pm at the school cafeteria. Plates will be $8 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. Many thanks to the local Ruritans for helping to keep Sandy Ridge clean. They picked up 26 bags of trash from Delta Church Road to Amos Ridge Road. That area of Hwy. 704 looks great!
