Well, we finally received some rain! It seemed all the areas around here had brief showers here and there, but not us. We’ve already gotten more rain in the last two days than we did the whole month of July. Love those “showers of blessings!”

Happy Birthday to Junior Rogers of the Collinstown community! Junior will be 83 years young August 11. He’s had some health problems as of late so if you see him out checking on his cows (as he usually does) stop and wish him well!

There will be a Women’s Conference at Dan River Baptist Church on Highway 704 in Francisco, Saturday, August 19. The men of the church will have supper ready at 5 p.m. and the ladies will start the service at 6 p.m. Judy Hopkins, guest speaker, will be showing highlights from her trip to Israel. All ladies are invited to attend. Also, check out our Dan River Baptist Church Facebook page. Be sure to “like” us!!

We will have a community meeting Sunday, August 20, at the picnic tables at Francisco School. The main item of discussion will be the Farmfest. The meeting starts at 4 p.m. All are invited to attend.

Francisco Presbyterian Church will have their annual church cookout Sunday, August 20, starting at 6 p.m.

At last, I saw a bear! He was beautiful, but of course, I was inside the car. I saw him/her on Highway 704 just past Hart Road. So, all you walkers, joggers, bike riders, farmers, be on the lookout.
