Eleven super students at Calvary Christian School in King took the 2018 CCS Summer Reading Challenge and exceeded the target set before them. As school dismissed for the summer in May, 1st – 3rd grade students were challenged to read at least 1,000 pages from a selected book list before school reconvened, 4th-6th grades at least 2,000 pages, and 7-12th grades at least 3,000 pages. Congratulations to the following students who exceeded their goal:

1st grade – Gracie Craig (2,989) and Sophie Black (2,167)

2nd grade – Eden Marshall (1,020)

3rd grade – Bryce Crouse (2,835) and Summer Johnson (2,606)

4th grade – Luke Dodson (3,030 pages) and Dominique Giudici (2,824 pages)

7th grade – Isabella Webb (4,319) and Madison Peters (3,042)

9th grade – Lauren Hanes (5,020) and Morgan Lawson (3,542)

Special congratulations are in order for top reader, 9th grade student Elsa Mitchell. Elsa blew the top off of every goal with 5,020 pages read in just two-and-a-half summer months! Calvary Christian students are learning “leaders are readers”!
