Ride for Readers a success

The Northwestern Regional Library sponsored the seventh annual Freeborne’s Ride for Readers on June 9. More than $6,500 was raised that will help purchase ebooks.

The host sponsor this year was Freeborne’s Eatery and Lodge in Laurel Springs who provided lunch for the riders. Music was provided by Glass Anvil.

The winner of the 50/50 raffle was April Russell of Fleetwood, North Carolina. Jeff Scully of Marshville, North Carolina won the best poker hand, and John Kilby of West Jefferson, North Carolina won the worst poker hand. All winners generously donated their winnings back to the Northwestern Regional Library.

The sponsors for the Ride for Readers included: Freeborne’s Eatery and Lodge, Angry Troll Brewing, Document Imaging Solutions, Friends of the Alleghany County Public Library, Friends of the Boonville Public Library, Friends of the Elkin Public Library, Friends of the King Public Library, Friends of the Mount Airy Public Library, the law office of Heather R. Klein, STE Powersports, and Skyline National Bank.

Ebooks are available at no charge to anyone with a library card. If you have questions or would to find out more, please call your local library. You can access NWRL’s ebook collection at https://nwrl.overdrive.com.
