Pilot Lodge #493, A.F. & A.M. will hold an open house on Saturday, June 16, from 2-5 p.m. Pilot Lodge is located at 122 Veterans Drive in Pilot Mountain, along South Key Street beside the Pilot Knob Volunteer Fire Department.
Dean Gordon, Master of the Lodge for 2018, encourages members of the community to come by for refreshments, tours, and to meet lodge members and learn more about the fraternity.
“Freemasonry is the oldest fraternity in the world,” said Gordon. “Our organization works to support widows and orphans and to be a positive force in our community, all while using the allegories and symbolism of Freemasonry to teach and remind our members to be good citizens and better men every day.”
Pilot Lodge meets on the second Monday of each month for a meal and business meeting, and at other times as necessary. The Lodge currently has 76 members, and has been continually chartered by the Grand Lodge of North Carolina, A.F. & A.M. since 1898. They have met in their present location since 1973, when the lodge moved from its former location in downtown Pilot Mountain.
“We hope to see a large turnout at the open house,” Gordon said. “This event will give members of the community the opportunity to ask questions, meet our members, and learn more about Pilot Lodge and Freemasonry.”
