The Genealogical Society of Rockingham and Stokes Counties will hold its Spring Genealogical Swap Meet from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, in the Meeting Room at the Francisco Community Building, 7104 NC Highway 89 West, in Westfield. Bring your family information, pictures, questions, charts, and a heavy dose of curiosity. Tables will be available for spreading out materials. Robert Lockett will present his third and final session of the DNA workshop. He will speak at 11 a.m. and the program is estimated to last an hour and fifteen minutes. He will review the four types of DNA and their biological characteristics that are useful for genealogists, discuss centimorgans and how they are used in genealogy, explain how we get in to haplogroups, compare the five major DNA testing companies and review the DNA results and findings of two sisters as well as Czar Nicholas of Russia and King Richard III. A copier will be provided at a nominal fee. Heavy refreshments will be provided as there are no nearby restaurants. Feel free to bring a snack or something to put on the refreshment table to share. Everyone is welcome, so come and bring a friend.
