The Stokes County Arts Council will announce the winners of the 2018 SCAC Scholarships this Friday, April 13 during an opening reception for their High School Art Extravaganza. The celebration will take place at The Apple Gallery, 500 Main Street, Danbury from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Each April Stokes Arts celebrates arts education during the extravaganza, held in partnership with Stokes County Schools. Art from Stokes County High School students is on display in The Apple Gallery throughout the month. Photography, paintings, sketches, mixed media, graphic art, and ceramics are included in the exhibition, which features four Scholastic Art & Writing Gold Key Award winners and nominees.
“Stokes Arts is honored to once again serve as the host for the High School Art Extravaganza and Scholarship exhibit reception. The level of artistic achievement demonstrated by the students and faculty is certainly worth celebrating, so we highly encourage all Stokes County residents to join us this Friday,” said Executive Director Eddy McGee.
Seven students pursuing higher education in an arts related field have been selected for the scholarship awards, which will be presented at 6:30 p.m.
