On Tuesday, August 8, Mayor Jack Warren visited King of Spades Garden Club’s monthly meeting, where he recognized last remaining charter member Betty Barnes for 55 years of service to the community through the Garden Club. The club also commemorated her 90th birthday.

Barnes has been a charter member of the Garden Club since 1962. She served as a secretary for four years and gave classes on arrangements and pressed flower pictures. Each Christmas, Barnes helps assemble the 25 wreaths made for all area churches and she’s won many ribbons at the local fair and Dixie Classic for her arrangements.
