Frank Dalton celebrates 90 years

Family and friends came out to celebrate Frank Dalton’s 90th birthday on Aug. 5 at East Walnut Cove Community Park.

Frank Dalton celebrated his 90th birthday with a party at the East Walnut Cove Community Park on Saturday, Aug. 5. Dalton is known locally for becoming the first black police officer in Walnut Cove, and first black deputy sheriff in Stokes County – serving in that position for 16 years. He is one of 10 siblings and has attended Withers Chapel since he was a boy. Dalton has been married 67 years to Mary Pearl and the two have six children, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
