Seeking Foster and Adoptive Families for Fall Session

Have you considered becoming a foster family or adopting a child that has entered the Foster Care system? In 2016, Stokes County had over 130 children that entered the court system due to child abuse, neglect or dependency by a parent or guardian.

There is a great need for families that are willing and able to take in children through the foster care system. The 2014 national statistics reflect 46 percent of children that could not return home to their parents or extended family members, were adopted by their foster family.

Stokes County Department of Social Services offers pre-service training, prepares and submits your license to foster children and prepares your Pre-Placement Assessment for adoption at no cost. Children placed in your home receive a stipend to provide for their needs.

We value our dedicated and committed foster families and see them as an essential piece to our foster care team. We look forward to having you join our team. Orientation will be Sunday, August 13 at Stokes County DSS, 2:30 – 5:30 pm. Our next Preservice Training begins September 11, 2017.
