A continuation has been confirmed for the man charged with murder in the death of North Carolina Trooper Samuel Bullard.

Dakota Kape Whitt, 22, of Elkin, faced charges including second-degree murder, felony fleeing to elude arrest in a motor vehicle causing death and driving with a revoked license at the Yadkin County Courthouse on June 6; however, the case has been continued to July 11 with the expectation it will again be continued due to the seriousness of the charges, according to officials with the Yadkin Clerk of Court’s office.

The charges were issued after Whitt fled from a traffic stop with Bullard in pursuit ending in a crash which claimed the life of the trooper May 23.
