King News: No more smoking at the American Legion

The King American Legion building is now NO SMOKING.

The bull riding is held on Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. at the King American Legion.

We extend sympathy and prayers to the family of Nolan Redding who passed away on February 25, 2010; Jesse Wade Freeman, a junior at West Stokes High School who passed away on February 25, 2010; Mary Proffitt Adams who passed away on February 25, 2010; John David McClamrock, who passed away on February 25, 2010; Baylee Grace McCoy, February 26, 2010; Sherri Snider, who passed away February 27, 2010; Kenneth Dale Puckett, who passed away February 27, 2010.

On March 6, the Rotary Club of King will be hosting a “Feed Stokes 5 K.” This is the official kick-off for the 2010 Scouting for Food Campaign to benefit King Outreach Ministry. This run will begin at Central Park and conclude at Central Park. There will a one-mile fun run beginning at 8:30 a.m., and the 5K run will begin at 9 a.m. Each runner is encouraged to bring three cans of food to donate to King Outreach Ministry. Congratulations to Marty and Sarah Bywaters-Baldwin on the birth of their daughter, Anna Dawn, who was born February 24, 2010. She weighed 9 lb. 7 oz. She has black hair and blue-gray eyes. Marty says, “She is beautiful, just like her mama.” ENanny and Popaw Baldwin are very proud grandparents once again.

Chuck and Julie Tedder Queen announce the birth of their son, Liam Tyler Queen, born on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 2:39 p.m. His weigh was 8 lbs. and 5 oz. and 22 inches in length. Grandparents are Steve and Katie Tedder, great-grandson of Alma Hall Tedder and the late Ira Tedder and great-nephew of Donna Tedder, of King.

The Carl Calloway American Legion Post 290 will hold their annual birthday dinner on Monday, March 8 at 6 p.m. at the Legion building with a potluck dinner. Our Girl and Boy Staters will be honored.

The King High School Reunion will be on Saturday, April 24 at Poplar Springs Church of Christ Family Life Center, 7120 NC Hwy 66 South, King. Deadline for registration is April 8 to Judy Slate, secretary/treasurer, P. O. Box 159, King, NC 27021.

King Moravian Church Preschool Spring/Summer Children’s Consignment Sale will be Friday, March 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, March 6 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
