Ken Brown of Sandy Ridge (right) was recently honored by United Daughters of the Confederacy, Madison-Mayodan Greys, Chapter #2569, for his service to his country. The Bestowal of Crosses of Military Service were established to honor a descendant of a Confederate veteran who has exemplified the coverage, honor, and loyalty of his ancestor by his own patriotic military service to this country. Ken is retired from the U. S. Navy, and his great-grandfather, Andrew J. Brown, served honorably in Company H, 42nd Regiment, Virginia Infantry.
