MOUNT AIRY - Winston-Salem Prep’s undefeated basketball team eked by West Stokes 56-55 in the conference final at North Surry High School on Friday night.

After the game, Wildcats Coach Dan Spainhour told his team that he knew that the loss “stings.”

“I thought we played well enough to win,” Spainhour said. But, Raekwon Harney, Prep’s leading scorer (18 pts.), hit some “tough” shots at the end of the game that allowed the team to inch past the Wildcats, Spainhour said.

“I was proud of our effort,” Spainhour said.

The leading scorers for the Wildcats were Josh Spainhour (23 pts.), Reid Goodson (14 pts.) and Alston Furr 10.
