Seminar — The Real Estate Brokers for Stokes County (REBSC) group will be hosting an educational seminar on Feb. 21 at Walnut Cove Public Library. Photo contest — Northwestern Regional Library Traveling Photography Contest 2013 is titled “Show Us Your Best.” Submit your winning photograph at the King Public Library. Donkey basketball — Members of the Danbury Volunteer Fire Department will be playing a team of Stokes County celebrities in a fun-filled game of donkey basketball on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in the North Stokes High School gym. The event will benefit the Danbury VFD and Rescue Squad. There will be a 50-50 drawing as well as a fun-filled half time show along with donkey rides for the children for $1 at half-time. The ladies auxiliary will be providing concessions for sale including hot dogs, drinks, and chips. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased now from any member of the fire department, at Danbury General Store and Lawsonville Elementary School, or at the door.

Music — Live music will take place from 7-9 p.m. in Walnut Cove at Oma’s Chocolate Factory and Coffee Shop on Feb. 23, featuring the Stokes County music group, Stained Glass Canoe. This will be an acoustic show featuring classic to current rock, blues and Americana music. Oma’s Chocolate Factory and Coffee Shop is located at 1137 North Main Street, Walnut Cove. Brunswick stew — Project Uth 360 will hold a Brunswick Stew Fundraiser Feb. 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at London Elementary School. Cost is $6 a quart for pre-orders and $7 a quart the day of the event. To order, contact Malcolm at 413-4409 or by email at stokes.project360@gmail.com.

Chicken stew — Walnut Cove Fire Department Junior Fire Fighters will be holding their first chicken stew at the Walnut Cove Fire Department from 1 p.m. until sell out. Carry out only. Stew can be purchased for $8 per quart. Contact the fire department at 591-4477 to pre-order.

Benefit — There will be a benefit breakfast for Ellie Adams Houle (Ellie has recently been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphona) on Feb. 23 from 7 to 10 a.m. at Pine Hall Elementary Cafeteria by Pine Hall Ruritan Club, 1400 Pine Hall Road, Pine Hall. Training — KidSource Child Care Resource and Referral, a Stokes Partnership for Children program, is offering training on “ITS SIDS” Feb. 25. Jennifer Davis, regional infant/toddler specialist, will be presenting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Stokes Partnership for Children on Infant/Toddler Safe Sleep and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Risk Reduction in Child Care. Mandatory for caregivers of children 0-12 months every 3 years. There is no charge for parents, families, grandparents and foster parents. There is a $7 fee for child care providers.
