The SBI was called in to help clean up a meth lab discovered in Walnut Cove Friday. The cleanup was ongoing as of 5 p.m.

During the course of an ongoing investigation, a small meth lab operation was discovered at a residence in a mobile home park off of Fowler Road, near Highway 89. The N.C. State Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist with the cleanup, which began early in the day and was expected to last until early- to mid-evening, said Stokes County Sheriff Mike Marshall.

Fowler Road was blocked off, and residences in the immediate proximity of the meth lab were evacuated during the cleanup as a safety precaution.

Sheriff Marshall said, “The investigation is ongoing, and we will continue to try to clean up neighborhoods as we can.”

More details will be forthcoming, said Marshall.
