Consumers in Stokes and Forsyth counties will have more local food options this spring and summer. Triad Farm to Table, a produce co-op composed of local farmers and consumers, is expanding its 2013 season and pick-up locations. The co-op, which began in 2011, will offer a 16-week summer season starting May 8 and follow with an eight-week fall season.

New pick-up sites for 2013 include the Stokes Family YMCA in King and Buffalo Creek Farm and Creamery near Germanton. Kingswood Methodist Church in Rural Hall and Pfafftown Christian Church will continue as pick-up locations as well. Pick-up hours are Wednesdays or Thursdays from 5 to 7 for the convenience of those who work during the day.

Grass fed beef, pastured pork, and goat milk cheese will be available by custom order on specific dates. Consumer members also have the option of ordering additional produce for canning and freezing, either through the co-op or directly from the participating farmers.

In addition to fresh produce, the weekly boxes will sometimes include free range eggs, honey, locally made pickles and other value added products. Several farms in northern Forsyth and Stokes County sell through the organization. For more information see the website at
