Monday night West Stokes’ varsity boys team defended its home court against East Surry with a 61-30 win.
The Wildcats and the Cards were neck-and-neck for the lead in the first half of the game. At halftime, the Wildcats were only up by one point (23-22).
But, the Wildcats exploded in the third quarter and put over 20 points on the board with the combined efforts of Grayson Cobb, Josh Spainhour, Reid Goodson and Alston Furr. Zach Hartle, fresh off the bench having recovered from an injury, rounded out the third with a 3-pointer.
In the fourth quarter, the Wildcats practically shutout the Cards, keeping them to only three points in the quarter. The Wildcats went on to grab the win for the evening 61-30.
The Lady Wildcats and the Cards kept it to a close 7-6 in the first quarter, with the Wildcats leading by one point. But the Cards took back the lead at the beginning of the second quarter and kept it for the remainder of the evening.
At halftime the Cards were in the lead 24-17.
In the final half the Cards flew away with the game with an over 20 point lead. The final score of the game was 54-30.
