Sandy Ridge News: Children to send cake to soldiers

Bible study has begun at Delta United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. each Tuesday. Everyone will be welcome.

Sending love in a mason jar. The children’s church department of Oak Ridge Baptist Church will be meeting Friday night, February 8 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the church fellowship hall to bake a cake in mason jars to send to the soldiers overseas. The event is for ages K-5th graders.

Seniors Citizens Day was held at Delta United Methodist Church Sunday. They were honored with lunch served in the church fellowship hall served by the younger members of the church.

Men’s Day was held at Oak Ridge Baptist Church Sunday, January 17 with the men in charge of all services. Speaker for the 8:30 a.m. service was Michael Logan; testimony by Michael Craig; special song Terry Dalton; 11 a.m. service speaker Willard Nelson and testimony Wesley Hawkins and special song Jerry Lawrence. Sunday night service: speaker Bobby Sheppard; testimony Caleb Bullock; special song Junior and Frank Duncan. Musical prelude for all services: Brandon Hooker.

Jackie Hawkins has returned home after spending several days in the hospital.

Claudia Stovall underwent heart surgery last week and is back home and doing well.

Ann Rhodes remains on the sick list.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Cameron Martin who died Sunday, January 20.

Ruth Cook is on the sick list.

Those celebrating birthdays last week were Sara Martin, Jan. 21; DeAnn Hall, Jan. 23; Rickey Tucker, Jan. 24; Emma Gilley, Jan. 25; and Robert Hodge, Jan. 26. Celebrating this week are David Ferguson, Feb. 1 and Wesley Hawkins, Feb. 2.
