Both Sauras varsity teams took home a win against the Vikings on Tuesday night at North Stokes High School.

The Lady Sauras came out and grabbed the lead early in the game. By halftime, the team was up 26-18. Then the varsity girls team battled to a 57-44 win for the evening.

Top scorers for the Lady Sauras were Hannah Wood (18 pts.) and Michala Purdue (14 pts.). Wood also scored her 1,000th point in the game, and will be honored before South Stokes’ next home game.

The Sauras came out strong in the first two quarters and sailed to a 27-20 lead over the Vikings. In the third quarter, the Sauras stayed ahead by 11 points.

In the fourth quarter, the Vikings fought hard to shrink the Sauras lead. With some big plays by Matt Hopkins and Jackson Moorefield, the Vikings came within striking distance of the Sauras. But, it wasn’t enough to jump ahead. The Sauras grabbed a 57-52 win for the evening.

“Honestly, I don’t like close games,” Sauras Coach Jason Clark said. “But, a win is a win.”

Sauras Brandon Smith was the top scorer in the game. He had a double-double, with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Smith was followed by Devin Feimster with nine points.
