School, county boards to discuss school safety

The Stokes County Board of Education and Stokes County Board of Commissioners plan to meet Monday, Jan. 14 at 5 p.m. to discuss school safety.

The meeting will be held in Room C11 at South Stokes High School and will include a closed session for the following items:

• “To consult with an attorney employed or retained by the Board of Education in order to preserve the attorney client privilege”

• “To formulate plans by a local board of education relating to emergency response to incidents of school violence”

• “To discuss and take action regarding plans to protect public safety as it relates to existing or potential terrorist activity and to receive briefings by staff members, legal counsel, or law enforcement or emergency service officials concerning actions taken or to be taken to respond to such activity”

The county commissioners will hold their regular meeting in Danbury at 1:30 and the school board will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. at South Stokes following the closed session.
