EnergyUnited is offering all-expense paid scholarships for two middle-school students from within the EnergyUnited service area to attend basketball camps this summer at two of North Carolina’s largest college campuses.

Young women can apply to attend the Kellie Harper Wolfpack Basketball Academy Aug. 1-4 at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, and young men can apply to attend the Roy Williams Carolina Basketball Camp June 15-19 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. EnergyUnited will award scholarships to one boy and one girl and is accepting applications Jan. 1-March 30.

“EnergyUnited is thrilled to continue our tradition of awarding these scholarships to outstanding students,” said H. Wayne Wilkins, CEO at EnergyUnited. “This program provides kids with an unforgettable opportunity to work with collegiate coaches, experience life on a college campus and develop fundamental skills that will help them excel both on and off the court.”

Students who will be in sixth, seventh and eighth grade during the 2013-14 school year are eligible to apply. More information and applications, which are judged on academics, extracurricular activities and an essay, can be found at www.energyunited.com or www.ncelectriccooperatives.com or by contacting Lindsey Listrom at 800-662-8835.

More than 50 students across the state will attend basketball camps this summer through the Touchstone Energy Sports Camp program.
