On Feb. 10, the Stokes County Arts Council will host a concert by the John Cowan Band at South Stokes Auditorium. The show starts at 4:30 p.m. with special guests Lacy Green followed by The Good Fellers.

John Cowan, also known as the Voice of Newgrass, has been singing his heart out for 35 years now. From Newgrass Revival, to the John Cowan Band, to the legendary Doobie Brothers, Cowan has set himself apart. Cowan applies his powerful pipes to genres from country, bluegrass, and gospel to soul, jazz, and rock-and-roll — often within the space of a single concert. His ability to move fluidly through multiple styles and carry mesmerized audiences on the journey with him have created a dedicated following.

Special guest Lacy Green is a North Carolina native who grew up surrounded by the sounds of country, bluegrass and folk music in the small town of Pilot Mountain. A recent graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, Lacy released her debut single, “For the Summertime,” to national country radio in June. Her debut album, released in September, was produced by renowned songwriter/producer and Stokes County native Ronnie Bowman.

Tickets for the Feb. 10 performance are now on sale at the Stokes County Arts Council located at 500 N. Main Street, Danbury, and King Music Center located in downtown King. Costs are $20 advance ticket, $25 day of the show, and $15 for Stokes Arts members and children 12 and under. Only 225 tickets will be sold for this performance. South Stokes High School is located at 1100 South Stokes High Drive, Walnut Cove.
