The “funniest and wildest show on earth” is coming to North Stokes High School on Feb. 22. The Danbury Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad are sponsoring a donkey basketball game.

Organizers say fans will be delighted as donkeys of Professional Animal Frolics attempt to rid themselves of their riders during the ballgame. Stokes County residents will see some of their neighbors and friends attempt to ride donkeys that are specially trained for the game. Some have not been ridden very far even after hundreds of attempts.

In addition to the game, there will also be a special half-time show. Game time is 7 p.m. and will match a team from the Danbury Volunteer Fire Department against a team of Stokes County celebrities. Concessions will be available by the Danbury Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Admission is $6 in advance, $8 at the door, and children under 6 are admitted free of charge. You may obtain tickets from any member of the Danbury Volunteer Fire Department or Ladies Auxiliary. Also, advance tickets may be purchased at the Danbury General Store.
