GIBBONS


MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Beulah Estelle Gibbons, 89, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Woltz Hospice Home. She was born on May 18, 1923, in Stokes County. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Cox-Needham Chapel.


HALL


WESTFIELD — Carolyn Sue Hall, 54, of 1150 Timber Ridge Road, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at home. A memorial service was held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church.


KENDRICK


HILLSVILLE, Va. — Mr. Ronald Lee Kendrick, 56, of Hillsville, Va., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on March 28, 1956, in Forsyth County to Ruben Lee and Gracie Kendrick. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Gospel Light Baptist Church.


ROBERTSON


GERMANTON — Roy Dois Robertson, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, Jan. 4, 2013, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.


He was born Oct. 1, 1924, in Davie County to Harmon and Esther Williams Robertson. He came to Stokes County to help cut timber and met the love of his life, Betty Mae Johnson. Mr. Robertson retired from Container Corporation with 42 years of service and worked part time at L.W Faircloth Welding after his retirement. He loved to fish at the Outer Banks and if anyone was catching fish, it was Dois. After the death of his wife, he went on several fishing trips with his grandson, Brian Robertson. He was a loyal Redskins fan who did not like to see his team lose. He loved his family very much. Dois was a member of Penial Pentecostal Holiness Church.


A 4 p.m. funeral service was held on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Burroughs Chapel with the Rev. Tim Nelson and the Rev. Tim Lane officiating. Burial followed at 3 p.m., Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Mae Johnson Robertson; two sons, Roy Dois Robertson Jr. and Terry Lee Robertson; four sisters, Edith Elliott, Dorothy Dockery, Frances Gibson and twin sister, Lois Jackson; four brothers, Jack, Gray, “Blackie” and Troy Robertson.


He is survived by a daughter, Jane Robertson Carroll and husband Dexter of Germanton; a son, Timothy Samuel Robertson of the home; seven grandchildren, Derrick (Kendra), Erick (Tammy), Kent (Anna), Kyle (Amber) Carroll, Brian and Farrah Robertson, Alicia (Joseph) White; 10 great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Meg, Sophie, Mya, Ella, Ethan, Jackson and Luke Carroll, Carson and Ellie White; one sister, Mona Lee Brewer of Greensboro; and three brothers, “Bunny” and Jimmy Robertson of Winston-Salem and Jerry Robertson of Walnut Cove.


The family received friends from 3-4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home.

PINNACLE — Mrs. Ruby Sawyers Sechrest, 92, of Pinnacle, wife of the late Curtis Sechrest, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born on Aug. 11, 1920, in Surry County to the late Cora Frances Atkins. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Friendly Chapel Church.


TILLEY


PINNACLE — Mr. Loyd George “L.G.” Tilley Jr., 70, of Pinnacle, husband of Carolyn Tilley, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Brim’s Grove Baptist Church.
