The Lady Vikings are still on the hunt for a conference win this season.

DOBSON - North Stokes’ varsity basketball teams are still on the hunt for a conference win this season after losing to Surry Central’s Eagles on Tuesday night.
The Lady Vikings struggled to get through the Eagles defense throughout the night. The team was only able to put up 11 points in the first two quarters, while the Eagles grabbed a 27-point lead.
In the third quarter, the Lady Vikings eked in three points. The Eagles began to turn the game into a blowout in the third quarter, when the team scored an extra 12 points, which brought the score to 50-14.
The Lady Vikings played better in the final quarter and went 16-18, but it wasn’t enough to come away with the win. The final score was 68-30.
“The girls played really hard, but not very smart,” Lady Vikings Coach Mitch Reeves said. “Surry Central is a really good team and we continued to turn the basketball over as we have in our poor performances”
The Lady Vikings remain winless in the conference 0-7.
The varsity boys team started the game a little slow and only scored three points against the Eagles in the first quarter. By halftime, the Eagles led 21-11.
The Vikings outscored the Eagles 19-9 in the third quarter and tied the game up 30-30. Each team grabbed an extra 20 points in the final quarter and sent the game into overtime.
In overtime, the Eagles narrowly outscored the Vikings 9-6 to take the win for the evening. The final score of the game was 59-56.
“Our guys really played hard,” Vikings Coach David Anderson said. “I feel like we are playing alot better, we just need to win a close game and get the monkey off our back.”
The Vikings remain on the hunt for a conference win this season. The team is at the bottom of conference standings with a record of 0-7.
