The Stokes County Arts Council will sponsor The Living Storybook Drama Classes for interested Stokes County students beginning January 2013. All drama classes will be taught by Peter Holland, the director of Once Upon A Blue Ridge, a touring professional theatre company.
The first of the class offerings — Creative Dramatics — is structured for students 6-8 years of age. The emphasis of this class is on unlocking creativity and positively expressing feelings. This class will be taught from 5 to 6 p.m.
Basics of Acting is structured for students 9-11 years of age. This class involves improvisation, movement, script study, character building, vocal projection and articulation. The class will be taught from 6:10 to 7:10 p.m. Experienced students will be given additional material to work on outside of class.
Advanced Acting is structured for students 12-teens. This class involves character review, identifying transitions, and recognizing different styles of drama. Units on directing and playwriting will be taught and students will be given a chance to practice their directing and playwriting skills. The class will be taught from 7:20 to 8:30 p.m.
All classes will culminate in a recital for family and friends.
Classes will meet at King Recreation Acres, 107 White Road, King, every Wednesday evening from January 9th through March (unless inclement weather extends schedule).
