Information may be e-mailed to mevans@thestokesnews.com or faxed to 591-4379. The deadline is 3 p.m. Monday prior to publication. The calendar is reserved for non-profit organizations, school and community events. Ongoing calendar items will publish the last week of each month if space allows. Mon., Nov. 26-Fri., Dec. 21

Food drive — Between Nov. 26 and Dec. 21 people can help the Tax Assessment/Collections and Register of Deeds Offices collect a thousand pounds of food by donating cans or non-perishable items at any of these three offices. All food will be donated to the East Stokes and King Outreach Ministry.

Sat., Dec. 15

Music — The Patrick County Music Association will host a show on Dec. 15 at Rotary Building in Stuart, Va. Doors open at 4 p.m., show starts at 4:30 p.m. Sue Nester and Friends perform at 4:30 p.m., Shelton Brothers at 5:15 p.m., Jason Harris and Friends at 6 p.m., Adam Mcpeak and Mountain Thunder at 6:45 p.m. and Snyder Family at 7:30 p.m.

Ongoing Events

Cops for Tots — King Police Department is sponsoring Cops for Tots 2012, a Christmas program for local needy children. People can donate new toys and cash to help the King PD bring Christmas to local families who need help this year. All donations received will go to provide Christmas toys and clothes for local children. Cash donations are also being collected at Dollar General on Mtn. View Road. Look for the Cops for Tots bucket near the cash register. Cash donations are also accepted at the King Police Department. The deadline is Dec. 16.
