Calvary Christian School’s boys varsity basketball team won both games last week, bringing the team’s record to 3-1.

Last week, the Cougars faced Union Grove. After falling behind by nearly 15 points early in the first half, Calvary fought hard and showed no signs of giving up. With a thrilling fourth quarter, the Cougars grabbed another victory, ending the game with a final score of 58-55.

Alex Lankford led the Cougars with 18 points. Ben Vernon had a standout performance as well, racking up 15 points and 13 rebounds. Cody Kinzer had 12 points, Andrew Kinzer had eight points, and Andrew Bryan scored five.

On Friday, following their victory over Union Grove, the Cougars made a short trip to Rural Hall to face off against Woodland Baptist. Woodland came out very strong, pulling away by nearly 20 points in the first quarter. The Cougars were able to cut the Woodland lead in half. Another nail-biting fourth quarter led to a Cougar victory, 44-42. Ben Vernon led the way with 14 points, followed by Alex Lankford who tallied 12 points.
