A Thurmond man is in custody after police say he robbed King Drug while armed with a knife and two toy guns.
King Police Chief Paula May said King Drug, located at the corner of Dalton and Main Street in downtown King, was robbed about 10:35 a.m. by a masked man who pulled a knife on an employee of the pharmacy. The suspect also had two toy guns in his possession, including one tucked in his pants waistband. No one was seriously injured in the robbery.
Officers responded to the call immediately, and Sgt. Kevin Crane located and stopped the suspect who was fleeing in his vehicle on Main Street near Meadowbrook Drive. The suspect was headed toward U.S. 52.
The suspect was taken into custody and has been identified as Joshua William Blevins, 28, of Thurmond, N.C.
