The South Stokes’ varsity teams continued their success this season with wins in non-conference games against Atkins. The Sauras’ varsity teams faced the Camels in a scrimmage games last week and came out on top. Last night, the Sauras proved their muster in a real game against the Camels.

The Lady Sauras grabbed a nice seven point lead before the half and kept it the rest of the night to finish with a 38-23 win.

Lady Sauras’ Head Coach Mitch Adams said that the Camels kept pressure on the ball all night, but the Sauras maintained their composure and “came out on top.”

The varsity boy’s team followed up with their own success on the court. The Sauras grabbed a 20 point lead in the third quarter and held onto it for the remainder of the game. The Sauras finished the game with a score of 55-33.

Sauras’ Head Coach Jason Clark said that the Sauras’ defense created scoring opportunities in the game. He said he was happy with the win, but the he says the the Sauras need to tighten up their game if they want to go far this season. This means cutting down on turnovers. Right now, the Sauras are averaging about 20 turnovers a game.

“We are going to have to get better,” he said. “There are no easy games in our league.”
