Local libraries place in national contest

Seven branches of the Northwestern Regional Library have placed in the Top 200 of a national contest. LEGO® DUPLO® and the Association for Library Services To Children (ALSC) have joined hands to celebrate and support local libraries. Mount Airy Public Library was the most nominated library in the “Read! Build! Play!” project and will receive $5,000 for books and supplies.

The top 200 libraries will receive a special LEGO DUPLO Read! Build! Play! toolkit full of cutting edge early literacy programming that combines preschool books with a versatile collection of DUPLO bricks. Walnut Cove Public Library placed 33rd, Yadkin County Public Library placed 110th, Lowgap Public Library placed 118th, Dobson Community Library finished in 134th place, Alleghany County Public Library finished in 151st place, and the Charles H. Stone Memorial Library in Pilot Mountain finished in 192nd place.
