Fifteen people have been arrested on more than 60 charges as a result of “Operation Summer Buzz 2012,” a drug apprehension project conducted by the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office last week.

On Thursday, Aug. 30 at 6 a.m., Sheriff Mike Marshall launched “Operation Summer Buzz.” Special teams of officers composed of Stokes County investigative personnel and N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement agents spread out across the county to make arrests. The operation was the culmination of several months of undercover work.

Sheriff Marshall stated in a news release, “The apprehension side of each defendant in these cases included the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office with assistance provided by N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement and Mayodan Police Department, but the investigation side of these cases involves the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office, N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement and Walnut Cove Police Department.”

This was the sheriff’s seventh special drug apprehension project since taking office almost two years ago. Marshall said, “Operation Summer Buzz 2012 involves several months worth of narcotics undercover work and involves a collective effort of ongoing drug investigations that target drug distributors and illegal drug users in Stokes County.”

He continued: “It has been, and continues to be my goal and my commitment to do my part as sheriff of Stokes County to keep drug dealers on the run who think they can come into Stokes County peddling poison to our children and our families.”
