The Stokes County Arts Council will host “Star-Spangled Girls” on Saturday, February 28 at the King American Legion Post 290, 446 S. Main Street, King. The play is drawn from the memoirs and letters of 37 women veterans. These venerable women share memories of events and emotions about enlistment, basic training, service at home and abroad, love and segregation in the military. The cast includes five actresses as they portray WACs, WAVES, Army Nurses and Red Cross volunteers. On Saturday, desserts are served beginning at 6 p.m., followed by the performance at 7 p.m. Tickets to the 2009 Winter Dessert Theatre Series are $13 per person per performance, $11 for SCAC members, students and seniors 55 years and over. For tickets or additional information, contact the Arts Council at 593-8159.
