The Northwestern Regional Library has announced its upcoming traveling photography contest. This year’s theme is the libraries’ slogan, “learn…explore…connect…”, and photographers are challenged to celebrate all or part of the slogan.

The contest is open to all registered library patrons whose primary source of income is not photography. A person may register for a library card at any branch library in Allegany, Stokes, Surry, or Yadkin counties.

All submitted images must be created using film or digital camera. This year a new category of digitally-altered photographs will be judged.

All entries must be received by a branch library by Wednesday, February 18, 2009.

A workshop entitled “The Basics of Digital Photography” will be held on Monday, March 9 at 5 p.m. at the Charles H. Stone Memorial Library in Pilot Mountain. A reception will follow at 6:30 p.m. at which time awards will be presented. Both events are open to the public.

There will be cash awards for the adult categories, and youth winners will be recognized with certificates and ribbons.

For more information, please contact your local NWRL library.
