The season kicks off on Saturday, January 17 at the Walnut Cove Senior Center/Historic Colored School, 308 Brook Street in Walnut Cove, as the Carolina Skyline Players present the comedy “The Education of Angels.”
On Saturday, January 31 and Sunday, February 1, actor Peter Holland returns with his critically acclaimed one man performance of “Mr. Lincoln’s Office,” to be presented at the Historic Stokes County Courthouse/Board of Education, 100 Courthouse Circle/Highway 8/89, in Danbury.
A one-of-a-kind Valentine’s Day performance will take place on Saturday, February 14, as the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival will present the most famous love story of all time, “Romeo and Juliet,” at King Moravian Church, 234 West Dalton Road in King.
The Touring Theatre of North Carolina makes its debut as part of the Winter Dessert Theatre Series on Saturday, February 28 as they present “Star-Spangled Girls” at the King American Legion Post 290, 446 South Main Street in King.
On March 21, the series concludes at the Historic Nancy Reynolds School, 1585 NC Highway 66 North, Westfield, as the NoneSuch Playmakers present “Stop the Press,” a hilarious comedy in two acts.
Desserts are served beginning at 6 p.m., followed by the performances at 7 p.m.
The Sunday, February 1 production of “Mr. Lincoln’s Office” begins with dessert at 2 p.m., followed by the performance at 3 p.m. Tickets to the 2009 Winter Dessert Theatre Series are $13 per person per performance, and $11 for SCAC Members, students and seniors 55 and over.
A series ticket for all five performances can be purchased for $50. Ticket prices include dessert and performance. Seating is limited. For tickets or additional information, contact the Stokes County Arts Council at 336.593-8159.
