The Dan River Art Market is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Art Market is staffed by volunteers, so please feel free to call 593-2808 to insure a volunteer is available or contact the Stokes County Arts Council at 593-8159 Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Newcomers to the Art Market include Stacy Yates, photographer. Yates displays several beautiful pieces of her custom-framed photography at the Art Market.

Brenda Duncan, author of a wonderfully illustrated children’s book entitled Poplar Leaf, compliments the children’s section of the Art Market.

The Rhodes Family Restoration and Memorial Foundation have chosen the Art Market to display and offer for sale their new cookbook entitled “The Rhodes Family Cookbook.” Proceeds from the sale of this cookbook will go to this nonprofit organization for the restoration of the home of Austin C. and Matilda F. Spencer Rhodes, furnish it for the period 1866-1936, provide a home-farm atmosphere, and open it to the public, specifically for the use of schools, as a teaching/learning tool.

Each month, the Stokes County Arts Council recognizes a local artist(s) and exhibits the artist’s work in the Apple Gallery. A reception for the artist is held the last Friday of the month from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The exhibit remains in the gallery for one month and is free for public viewing. Please access the Stokes County Arts Council’s website: www.stokesarts.org for upcoming exhibits and events.
