It was a tiring day for some Stokes County deputies last week as they were forced to chase some suspected thieves on foot. The suspects lost the race and were taken into custody by the officers.
Arrested and charged were Charles Justin Boothe, 22, of Walnut Cove; Robert Lemuel Hicks, 23, of Northfield Drive, King; and Melissa Gail Green, 31, of Brandemere Lane, Winston-Salem.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, Mar. 30, when Stokes County Sheriffs Office deputies answered a call about a possible domestic incident and burglary at 1075 Morgan Street, Walnut Cove. The law officers began to survey the area for a glimpse of the individual named in the emergency call.
As they looked around, they saw some suspicious activity nearby. It looked as if another burglary and larceny was in progress. The deputies called out to the two suspects to stop what they were doing. The two suspects began to run, and the chase ensued on foot. The deputies apprehended the pair, along with the third suspect.
Boothe was charged with misdemeanor Breaking/Entering, Injury to Personal Property, two counts of felony Breaking/Entering and Larceny. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond.
Hicks was charged with felony Breaking/Entering, felony Larceny, Resisting a Public Officer and Assault on an Officer. His bond was also $10,000 secured.
Greens charges were felony Breaking/Entering, felony Larceny, Resisting a Public Officer and Assault on an Officer. The bond in her case was also $10,000 secured.
Their trials are pending.
